Another windy day by the waterfront. The race kicked off at 4.30pm and there were 28 riders at the start line. This race was 50% longer than the previous Bucanners' Run (3 laps instead of 2), and this as well as the wind affected the initial pace of the race.
A few breaks were attempted in the first lap, but they were consistently caught except for Alexander Doyle who led by 1 minute for half the race. He was eventually caught, but soon after made another break with Kenardo Dunn and Oneil Sinclair with one lap to go. Kenardo and Alexander dropped Oneil on the turn leg, who was quickly absorbed in the peloton now frantically chasing the 2 leaders.
Performance got their act together and put on some serious pace on the last lap. Efforts by Dean Martin to bridge the gap was unsuccessful, but Oneil Samuels lingered in no-man's land until the finish line was in clear view. Kenardo finished in 1st place after breaking away from Alexnder. He took 2nd place, just 8 seconds before the pack came charging in. Oneil fought off his teamate Martin Dennis in the field sprint to get 3rd.
The official results are as follows:
Categories 1 & 2
1. Kenardo Dunn
2. Alexander Doyle
3. Oneil Samuels
Categories 3 & 4
1. Albert Thomas
2. Patrick Chung
3. Oneil Sinclair
